From Larry Gaines, May 30, 2002

I had a very special treat today.  I flew a reporter and photographer from Stockton to Livermore today so they could ride back to Stockton in the Collings Foundation's B-17.

I asked the pilot if we could fly back as a flight of 2.  He asked about my formation experience and soon we were briefing a flight.  It's not very far from LVK to SCK , but I flew about 15 or 20 minutes on the wing of a B-17 bomber!  Join-up was a piece of cake.  Keeping station had me thinking about my Dad flying through flak and worrying about ME 262 jet fighters.

I broke off on base leg to land on a parallel runway.  The photographer said he got some great shots of my Bonanza with a whole bunch of Boeing wing in the foreground.  I can't wait to see them.  The pilot is a check pilot for the FAST program and knows Vernon Ricks.
