Kokomo, Indiana: Kokomo Municipal (OKK)

Hosted by Glenn Olsen, David Evans & Richard Schmidt.

Public, uncontrolled airport with two crossing 150' wide runways.

The focus of the course will be the same as last year.  The intent is to develop more advanced formation skills with "close-in" two ship formation skills that can lead to more advanced training.  This will be a full two two day formation flying mini clinic that will also qualify someone for B2OSH.

Friday, April 30, 2010 Evening briefing session - details to follow
Saturday, May 1, 2010 Details to follow
Sunday, May 2, 2010 Details to follow
Participants should plan on arriving on Friday evening for a mandatory classroom session and  will fly all day Saturday and most of the day on Sunday.

Hotel: Holiday Inn Express, Kokomo, IN Phone: 765-453-2222  Rate: 90$ a night plus taxes, single occupancy

I have reserved a block of 14 rooms under the name of "Bonanzas to Oshkosh Formation Training." You must call and make your own reservation at which time you will receive your confirmation number.

Rental Cars: I have reserved 4 Ford Taurus rental cars that will be at the KOKK airport by Friday April 3rd at 5:00 PM. They rent at a rate of $49.95 a day. Once we have a final count I will cancel any extra cars. We will then divide the cost of the cars amongst all of us.

Classroom Session: We will conduct the classroom session (~2 hours) on Friday evening. This depends on whether all of the trainees can make it to KOKK by 6PM on the Friday. Please respond back to me to let me know if you can do this.

There will be a mandatory classroom session conducted on Friday evening starting at 6:00. We plan on flying all day on Saturday so the classroom on Friday night will focus on all of the basic knowledge and skills to fly close in formation safely.  If you have attended a clinic in the past, you are more than welcome to attend the Friday night classroom for a refresher, but your attendance is not mandatory. We will start promptly at 8am on Saturday with a mandatory safety briefing.

We plan on flying all day on Saturday and most of the day on Sunday.

Participants successfully completing the course will qualify for 60 ABS Aviator points.

Registration: Click for registration form.

Fee: Money to cover expenses (food, transportation, etc.) will be collected at the session.

REQUIREMENTS: Dual rudder pedals, working intercom and  T-34 Formation Flight Manual; review TRAININGOn Your Own and the Waiver.

RECOMMENDED: "Formation Flying - The Art" video.
