FBO & Ramp Information
|
|
No pedestrians
or aircraft will be allowed to enter the UPS ramp between
5:00 pm Friday and 8:00 am Saturday without an Emery
escort. This is a rigorously enforced security
issue.
|
Aircraft arriving Thursday or before 10:00
a.m. Friday will park on the
Emery Air Charter
FBO ramp. Expect to move your airplane to the UPS ramp
adjacent to Emery at 10:00 a.m. local Friday. Arrivals on
Friday between 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. will proceed directly to
the UPS ramp. Arrivals after 5:00 p.m. Friday must park on
the Emery ramp (the UPS ramp will be unattended). No pedestrians
or aircraft allowed on UPS ramp without Emery escort from 5:00
p.m. Friday until 8:00 a.m. Saturday. If arriving on the
morning of the flight to OSH proceed directly to the UPS ramp.
Pilots assigned as
Flight Leaders
will identify themselves with a red 8 x 11" card in the windshield
and will be parked with the nose wheel on a red spot.
Wingmen
will be directed to parking either side of a Flight Leader.
Follow directions from ramp personnel. They know what they
are doing. Leave your beacon in the "on" position so ramp
personnel can spot if you left your master switch on. This
is a good time to turn your transponder to standby or off.
A diagram
of the parking arrangement is posted
Those wishing to fly as a group of three will identify
themselves with a green 8 x 11" card in the windshield. The
flight leader will also have a red 8 x 11" card (but must be approved
by me as a flight leader). While this guarantees you will
be in the same flight, it does not guarantee you will park next
to each other at OSH.
The ramp fee at Emery Air is $20.00 per plane and
covers the additional thirteen or so employees hired to expedite
our arrival and departure. Your registration the past few
years covered the ramp fee. We will try to do that again.
You will be responsible only for fuel and other personal charges.
We encourage fuel purchase at RFD. Emery provides
us with excellent service and a fuel discount. We should
support them.
-
Bring your own chocks; they do not
have enough for 100 planes.
-
There are no tie-downs where we are
parked on the UPS ramp. If thunderstorms look likely,
pilots may need to move their plane to either a tie down
area or grass where you can put in tie-downs. Either
way, have your own tie-downs and chocks easily available
in the luggage area.
-
Be smart. Pack a small, separate
tote for overnight only. Don’t look foolish lugging
a week of luggage into the motel. Make it easier on
our vans to get you back and forth.
-
Check tire pressure prior to arriving
in RFD. Oil will be available at RFD, but plan on putting
it in your plane yourself to expedite things.
