The Darton video "Formation Flying, The Art" is is a very detailed instructional video of about 4 hours. It is available for purchase from the T-34 Association.

An exceptionally well done two part series by Darton International. It includes mostly air-air descriptions of all aspects of formation flight from both the pilot/wingman's point of view and also that of an observer aircraft. Echelon, Fingertip, and Trail formation are covered with instruction and demonstration of station keeping, inside & outside turns, join-ups & break-ups, and takeoffs & landings. Hand signal communication and safety concerns are also covered in depth. This purchase also includes the T-34 Formation Manual 4th edition in PDF.

We have used the T-34 Manual as our standard Formation Procedure document. A copy was required to train with us. We are replacing it with much more thorough guidance written by the same author – Drew Blahnick of the FAST organization. Bonanzas to Oshkosh pilots are REQUIRED to download and read the Formation Pilot's Knowledge Guide. It has many procedures not applicable to the B2OSH flight, but all our standards, basic procedures, and terminology are covered quite well.
